quiet

The chill takes your breath away as you step out. The thin air makes it hard to breathe but puts that tingly sensation in your chest, making you feel alive. Walking is in order today, quiet walking. As you walk along the stones beneath you crunch with each step. The sound fills the air as others join and walk silently alongside. Without seeing, you feel the shadows of the trees pass over you. Warmth from the early morning sun mixes with shadowy chill as you move along the mottled road. Above the sound of walking, you notice other sounds. The wind as it sighs through the trees, the birds, who are also quietly chirping, seemingly respecting the silence. The sound of your own breathing as well as the breathing of others around you. You shiver and get goosebumps from a slight breeze. You touch your skin, it’s cold to the touch, a lot colder than you thought. You’re not cold though, the shivering is just a reflex. You breathe in deeply, letting the cold air chill your lungs, another shiver. This time from excitement. You smile, you feel at peace, your life is anything but peaceful, but right now for this sixteen minute silent walk, you and your Father are one.
